Description
I made a lot of self portraits while my wife and I were hiking and exploring the Redwoods. I felt that adding the human element gave a better sense of perspective and conveyed the actual size of these massive tree trunks. As I was making this shot, an Australian man walking by stopped to ask me camera-related questions. He had an older DSLR and he showed me his pictures asking, “Why do they all look so dreary and dark?” It was a cloudy/rainy day but his white balance seemed to be setting to fluorescent automatically. I suggested changing his white balance to ‘cloudy’ and his pictures now showed a ‘happy forest.’ He thanked me with a “cheers, mate” and was on his way.
