Big Bend National Park in Texas really is out in the middle of nowhere. We crossed miles and miles of hilly desert filled with only ranches once we got off the freeway. But, once we finally made into the park boundaries, it was easy to see why it had become a National Park. Despite its hostility, the desert can be a very beautiful place – if it’s respected! I had envisioned taking a shot like this since I was a kid. My single mom took my siblings and I on long road trips across the Southwest camping and really experiencing the desert. When I think back on those trips, the sunrises and sunsets on the road are really what I vividly remember. This shot really takes me back to my childhood.
