Description
In Mesa Verde National Park, this was the only dwelling that had completed kivas. They were actually reconstructed with special permission from the surviving tribe members. All the other kivas in the park did not have roofs. One was open for visitors to climb down the ladder and explore. Such an awesome place! Like a trip back through the centuries. For this shot, I tried some different processing as you can see. I wanted to make it look old, as if it were taken by one of the modern explorers that re-discovered the site. Of course, at that time the whole area was in complete shambles and falling apart. There was actually quite a bit of reconstruction that had to happen to make the dwellings look this way.
