Jeff and I spent quite a bit of time and energy hiking all over Mazama Ridge earlier in the day scouting wildflowers for this sunset. Then we opted to meet back at Paradise to take a nap somewhere but we got separated. We never found eachother due to the hoards of people that had arrived and made the place seem like an amusement park. I gave up looking for him and found a secluded couch in the Paradise Inn to pass out on. Then a few hours before this magic happened, I took one last solo hike up the Skyline Trail and came across this patch of flowers. I hiked back down to see if Jeff was at the last predetermined location we had agreed on for sunset and after finally finding him I showed him some shots of this spot and we immediately turned around and hiked back up the trail to watch this amazing sky. I hiked 20 miles all over Paradise this day. I can’t wait to go back and spend some time in the backcountry where fewer people will hopefully be found!
